C. G. Holmes,

1937.

This special book is one that I’ve used previously for a project I did. It is a publication which I truly treasure and recently found out that my father actually has the same one in his studio. Lettering of Today takes you on a journey through history. It begins by showing you letters that were written way before the books publishing proving how special it is to be able to use Calligraphy. It claims that its “handwriting as an art”. Rightly so I say. The use of lettering is vital in our everyday lives and to think its humble beginnings were that of a letter to a loved one is astonishing.

The book ends with the use of lettering in more modern sense such as advertising and packaging. This proves that it's still so relevant to todays society.
